Shakespeare once wrote, “To be or not to be? That is the question.”
These are such simple words, but yet they are truly profound. This is a question that we should ask ourselves on a daily basis. Just think about it…
“To Be…”
This really means “to live” or “to exist”. So what Shakespeare was asking was, “To live or not to live?”.
So I ask you: Are you living?
Are you truly making the most of the time you have? I know this is relative because what I think is living might be different then what you think, but that is not the focus of the question. The focus is, no matter what your view of living is, the fact remains that you have a view of what that means to you. Therefore the question is, are you living up to that vision?
For me this is always challenging, trying to embrace the concept to live each day to my fullest. It sounds good, but it is difficult to do. But I also know that the question is not whether I want to live to my fullest but am I willing to do so? Everyone wants to do something but not everyone is willing to do what is needed to achieve that something.
I have to remind myself everyday of that concept because there are a lot of things I want to do…but am I willing to do what I need to do to get them done?
I pray that whatever it means for you “to live” that you are able to because you are willing. As you live I hope you find that happiness comes in helping others to live to their fullest.
To all of you who have started the New Year thinking about others and putting others’ needs in front of your own…thank you for being POG soldiers. Let’s find some more recruits who want to help with our mission and be a part of the Power of Giving. |
